Dog Boarding
woooh! asked:

The most deplorable conditions inside a neighborhood grooming shop/ boarding place are going on as people leave their pets for boarding without checking out the facility.
Customer dogs (all sizes) are being kept in small pens in a dark garage with no windows, ventilation or outside access along with 23 of the owner’s dogs. Dogs are not walked and the urine and feces is sickening. Investigators have taken over and may confiscate all the dogs. Do you know how your dog is being kept if you board it?

Cat Grooming
katiekatiemeowmeow asked:

I have a severely overweight cat (18 lb Siamese) who has slacked off tremendously on her grooming. Her back is very greasy and she has really bad dandruff. What bothers me the most is that she won’t clean her rear. It has gotten really bad, and I have tried cleaning it with baby wipes, but she really doesn’t like it. She is very affectionate and constantly wants attention, but its really hard to love on something so smelly! Anyway, my question is, is there any way to prompt her to clean herself? She is too big (and can be quite violent) to be bathed in the tub. (I’ve tried)
Also, before anyone advises me on the overweight problem, we have tried to get her to lose weight. We have tried to cut down on what she is eating, but it is very hard to monitor because we have two other cats who are pretty small and need to eat more often. We also have a dog who hides treats and pieces of food everywhere, and the fat one always finds them. We try to engage her in activity, but she tires really soon and doesn’t move for days…
I know that she can reach her butt because I have seen her do it. My thoughts are that if she would just clean it a little bit every time she uses the box and not let it build up, it would be less unpleasant. Unfortunately for her, she must not be very persuasive. She can’t get any of our other cats to help her clean herself. She grooms the others incessantly, but they don’t seem to want to return the favor…

Cat Boarding
hotrice~* asked:

I’m going away for 3 weeks and because I’m new to the city, I don’t have anyone to look after my cat. she’s a year old and I leave in studio apartment. Is it okay to leave my cat alone for 3 weeks totally by herself with enough food, water and toys? Or should I not do that at all? I looked into some pet hotels and hospitals for cat boarding but they are ridiculously expensive. Please give me some advice!! I don’t know that much about cat….thanks!

I recently got a dog from a neighbor. She is a husky mix. She told me that she could not control her when she tried to groom her. She also had no leash manners. It did not take very long to teach her how to walk on a leash. Much to my surprise, I have no trouble with brushing her fur. She seems to really enjoy it. The vet showed me how to clip her nails and brush her teeth. He had no problem doing this, but I do. What could I be doing wrong?

Our cat has extremely long fur, and over the spring has gotten a lot of matted hair. My boyfriend took her to a professional groomer last year and they got as many out as possible before they had to stop because she was freaking out! Can cats be sedated under vet supervision to be groomed, or is that out of the question?
