Dog Grooming
kburgess612 asked:

is grooming animals (dogs and cats) professionally a hard career to learn? do you have to know how to be artistic? would you say petsmart grooming school is professional as a grooming school taught by master groomers?
okay people….when i say is grooming i hard i mean the actual grooming of animals meaning the cuts, shaves, etc.

I don’t think that it’s “hard” to learn- my husband learned to groom our 4 standard poodles

Grooming is one of those things you either can do, or can’t, but the training quality is still important. I’d say petsmart quality grooming is the low end of the totem pole. It’s kinda like convenience store food…there, better than starving, and expensive. A well trained groomer with his/her own shop or in a shop with another private groomer is going to most likely be the better choice. School helps, but the most important thing is real life situation experience. I’d say the best way to train is an apprenticeship with a successful groomer.

I am a Dog groomer in Aus so don’t know about the Stores but i love grooming both dogs and cats. It can be very difficult but worth it. I dont think it is hard to learn i am 19 and teach many people. Once your have been shown you play and kinda learn as you go. Best to practise on your own dog lol.
I have been grooming since i was 17 and still loving it and still learning new ways. i learnt at a small grooming shop, it was good as they had all the time to show me what they had learnt. Hope this helps.
