I don’t have a cat yet but planning to get one. I am a bit concerned about not having enough people to take care of it in case I go on a long trip for more than two weeks. There are apparently some cat/dog hotels and pet boarding places in Baltimore but I couldn’t figure out how much they cost per day. That would affect my decision to actually get the cat. I appreciate any estimate. Thank you!

I want to bring the “porch kitty” to the clippers. I’ve sort of adopted an outside cat who lives in the yard at my fourplex. He’s so cool but he has some mats in his fur. I want to bring him to the groomers. What’s a round-a-bout price for how much this should cost?

She is 5 years old, healthy, and has not been spayed. But never goes outside. She has long black hair and has stopped cleaning herself. She is getting knots in her hair and I am trying to help comb her, but she does not like it. I have thought about taking her to a groomer but she is very unsocialable, and can be a real snot.

I am an experienced dog groomer in a big city thats growing everyday. There are NO upscale grooming salons and I think with all the rich people here, it would do great! I have the knowledge to run it, just not the money. I would need about $100,000 to cover the rent, utilities and all the supplies needed. I would be willing to do just about anything to make this happen! I think this business could easily turn into a franchise!

My cat has this ongoing problem; he spends too much time grooming, and as a result the fur on his spine is almost all gone. He is only indoor, with no other living organisms on his body, and the vet is clueless. He only suggests cortisone shots every couple months, but I am hesitant to continue this route. Please let me know if you experienced similar problem with your cat, and if you were able to find a solution. If you are in San Francisco, CA area and have a vet suggestion, let’s talk offline.
Thanks,
Justyna
So, I am working partly from home, no kids, and this guy is getting lots of love, believe me. We are both crazy about him.
So the vet thinks it is either mental or allergy related The cortisone shots were actually helping and he would stop for a month or two, but I’d rather not give him steroids.
We try to distract him and play with him everytime we see him lick, but we can’t do much when we sleep.

is grooming animals (dogs and cats) professionally a hard career to learn? do you have to know how to be artistic? would you say petsmart grooming school is professional as a grooming school taught by master groomers?
okay people….when i say is grooming i hard i mean the actual grooming of animals meaning the cuts, shaves, etc.

A friend of mine is planning to open a dog grooming shop, and wants to give it a name like “Groom, Bath, and Beyond”, a la “Bed, Bath, and Beyond”. Would she have a risk of being sued for trademark infringement?

how much did you spend on your dog for grooming each year for a long coat breed or short coat? Did you groom them youself or find a groomer to do it? Your are more prefer mobile grooming service or a grooming salon?

I need to sedate my cat to shave his mats off, but I don’t actually want him to be sleeping because that could be dangerous. I bought a product called Comfort Time, which chilled him out so that he purred as I was grooming him, but it wore off way too quickly, is there anything else I could use? I know some people have used benedryl, and if so, what is the proper dose for a 22lb cat?
I wouldn’t be in this situation, but my regular groomer quit without any notification and everywhere else either doesn’t groom cats or is too expensive.
my groomer WAS at the vet’s office!
