There are apparently some cat/dog hotels and pet boarding places in Baltimore but I couldn’t figure out how much they cost per day. That would affect my decision to actually get the cat. She is 5 years old, healthy, and has not been spayed. But never goes outside. She has long black hair and has stopped cleaning herself. She is getting knots in her hair and I am trying to help comb her, but she does not like it. I have thought about taking her to a groomer but she is very unsocialable, and can be a real snot.

My persion cat is getting older (she’s now and has developed a hair ball problem in the last year. She’s been to the vet and I changed her food a long time ago to Science Diet Senior Hairball formula. It seems to have helped. I also feed her hairball gel three times a week, and I brush her with a slicker brush every day to remove as much shedding hair as possible. The vet suggested that I also have her groomed. The problem with that is, my cat and the groomer just don’t work out. She’s a shy house cat, and freaks out when she’s at the groomer (ironically she’s okay at the vet). I’ve tried taking her on 3 seperate occasions. She will not have it AT ALL. I’ve never groomed a cat before. I’m pretty sure I will be able to handle it, but tips from anyone who have done this before would be most appreciated.

I am an experienced dog groomer in a big city thats growing everyday. There are NO upscale grooming salons and I think with all the rich people here, it would do great! I have the knowledge to run it, just not the money. I would need about $100,000 to cover the rent, utilities and all the supplies needed. So, I am working partly from home, no kids, and this guy is getting lots of love, believe me. We are both crazy about him.
So the vet thinks it is either mental or allergy related The cortisone shots were actually helping and he would stop for a month or two, but I’d rather not give him steroids.
We try to distract him and play with him everytime we see him lick, but we can’t do much when we sleep.

okay people….when i say is grooming i hard i mean the actual grooming of animals meaning the cuts, shaves, etc.

I bought a product called Comfort Time, which chilled him out so that he purred as I was grooming him, but it wore off way too quickly, is there anything else I could use? I know some people have used benedryl, and if so, what is the proper dose for a 22lb cat?

I wouldn’t be in this situation, but my regular groomer quit without any notification and everywhere else either doesn’t groom cats or is too expensive.
